Dual Diagnosis refers to the co-occurrence of addictive disorders with other psychiatric disorders. This occurs fairly frequently, but is often missed by professionals practicing in one specialty or the other. Partly in response to this, in December 2000, the American Society of Addiction Medicine released a public policy statement on Co-Occurring Addictive and Psychiatric Disorders.
The "Dual Diagnosis" links may help find further resources but are not a substitute for professional help which should be obtained immediately when there are serious symptoms.
